Title: Need Your Input?
Post by: ottamatic on October 06, 2012, 02:27:06 PM
How can I find the best motor type or servo needed for certain requirements?  For instance, what type of motor would I need for a certain weight bracket moving up a flight of stairs?  What type of voltage would be needed?  Is there a good forum for these types of questions or some type of formula?

Thanks,

O

You need to know torque which is derived from weight and driving arm length, also You need to know RPM which is derived from velocity You want something to move. Voltage is based on the above requirements.

This is the right forum. And yes, there are formulas for these :)

No need to PM when you have asked the questions here. This is a good forum to ask in.

At the Top Right of this screen is "Robot Tutorials". Click on it and start reading. There are some that cover motor requirements.
Next, google what you learned to find much more info and equations to help you.
