Hi,

Whether beneficial or not really depends on what you are doing with it.

For reflow there really isn't any way to use regular solder. For some "regular" solder jobs, the solder paste will be easier to get into the right spots, but you gotta be more carefull to avoid bridges and components not seated properly (solder joints aren't supposed to be strained).

If you don't have a lot of routine, I'd say stick to the regular type and learn to handle that first. When you are confident in that, start experimenting a bit.

To help solder to float, you can get liquid fluss (not containing solder, just fluss).
