Real car remote controlled

Hi

I am wondering if it would be difficult to make a car drive with a remote control.

I would use an automatic gearbox.
A servo to control the carburetor.
A 100 Newton motor to turn the steer left and right.
And a piston to control the brake.


Would it be possible and how much would It cost me?
This is for a project for my school.
Its for my last year. But I am now in my 5the year.

maybe a windsheild wiper motor would be enough

wheel chair motors can be found on e-bay, there are lots of posts on how to control them also airman00 has a website that has a artical on whell chair motors (link in his signature)

Does anybody now a good way to brake quickly with a linear actuator?
I don't want to use hydraulics or pneumatics.
It's to messy to install.

Place a solenoid near the spokes of the wheel, and when you apply voltage, the solenoid stops the wheel. Or you can grab one from an old bike (safer)

i remember that from a while back! for the braking you could use the existing brakes and hack them somehow. im sure theres something down there, but as i know little about the anatomy of a car im sorry i can help you another option thats probibly easier but less reliable would be a solenoid that pushes down on the brake pedal?

The servos that Mythbusters use are available at Robot Marketplace, but they cost $500.

It's definately a nice place to stock up on some odd drive components and other random goodness.   Lots of their random motors and suplus motors can yeild some rather pricey stuff if they were sold via the original retailer.
