I want to make a UAV (drone with four propellers) and want to have a wireless cam on it.Plz suggest a wireless cam which can give me a stream back to the laptop upto 3 miles (and how to interface it to the laptop).

did you build the UAV yet?

up to 3 miles is quite a distance

What I would do is set up multiple WiFi hotspots and just put a WiFi cam on the UAV

UAVs are really really hard to build and control properly , post more info about it , it seems interesting
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!

If you Google RQ-11 Raven, you will find a little info on the Army's hand held SUAV (Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) that units use over seas.
It's a blast to fly and has a good range to it for it's small size. Even has very simple controls, and if it ever losses up-link, it'll RTB on its own, and can land within meters of it's pre-set "Home" point all by it's self.

A UAV is actually quite simple with a little bit of help. I come from a RC background (not the toy ones... "real ones"), and people make UAVs all the time, its just a matter of money. A good 1.5 to 2k will get you a UAV that can fly itself, point and click.

Here is a section of a forum all about RC UAVs:

Also 4 propellers will not be as efficient as just one. One propeller will do just fine.

Why not just look up other quad-rotor robots that have been built and see what they used?

I am ready to invest 400$USD for the camera.Normally the lowend cams which jack into a TV tuner card have lot of interference problem coming from the remote (RF) and the receiver antenna should be kept line of sight.I am looking for a camera which provides good image quality and also I am using the USB video capture dongle to get the analog signal from the receiver to the computer.

People in discovery channels show "Animal Camera " have mounted long range cameras on eagles ,snakes etc..Please tell me where to buy such cameras from.
