Hi all,
I have to build a robot with the follow features:
1- Wireless
2- Camera
3- Sensors, laser pointers for ranging
4- Speaker
5- Mic
What is the recommended/best main board for a project like this?
Thanks

I would definitely recommend the Axon ~ 100$
Or the Arduino Mega ~ 60$.booth have large libraries of code.
And booth are a about the same (A little more power in the mega)
But you get FREE personal support in the axon by admin and the whole forum. :D
Now that is worth something!
P.S Do you know how to program because what you are trying to accomplish is a large feat indeed, evan for a very skilled robot hobbyist .

Its probably also worth you looking at surveyor corp http://surveyor-corporation.stores.yahoo.net/srrowestkit.html (http://surveyor-corporation.stores.yahoo.net/srrowestkit.html) as their robot already has a lot of what you need

Ya but it's $525+shipping! :(

But the question didn't mention cost it just asked
What is the recommended/best main board for a project like this?
Also: they give educational discounts which might apply ?
You're not really comparing like with like. Ok the Axon is ~ $100 - but now add the cost of a camera, laser pointers, motors, chassis etc etc.
Build vs buy? Depends on whether the project is to 'create the bot yourself' or not.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I have over 9 years experience in programming, such as Delphi, VB6, Java, VB and C#. Also I have an experience from University in C and C+.
Do you know a good place to buy the main board and the robot components?
Cheers

Do you know a good place to buy the main board and the robot components?
Which board are you going with?
As for component suppliers then it depends on where you live

If you live in the USA I would recomend the following.
Societyofrobots.com / For axon.
Robotshop.com / For almost everything.
Parallax.com / Made in the USA robot products.
Sparkfun.com / For everything else.
.
The four companies I provided here are almost all you need for robotics. 8)
