Ballscrew tickness and prices
« on: October 06, 2013, 01:17:31 AM »
Hi all,

I am building a gantry robot and will be using two ballscrew for the X and Y. Is a 16mm diameter screw strong enough? (the dimensions of the gantry will be 1600mm by 1100mm).

Also, are the prices in the Ebay link below reasonable? Are there other sites with cheaper prices and ship worldwide?

Thanks in advance. Any help will be appreciated.

A little more information is needed to answer your question.

What are the max loads expected to be, axial and torsional?

 - I'm assuming your design will have some sort of guiding rail so there will be negligible lateral loads on the screws.

Are these loads expected to be cyclical or fairly steady?
