Are there any long term benifits of getting the better programer in 50 buck robot? Please help. I would like to order one or the other soon. Thanks...

Yes, the more expensive one allows you to program a much larger variety of AVR microcontrollers. It also has many other neat features, too complicated for a beginner to understand, but useful as you get more advanced. Its also much easier to use, more reliable, and can be run directly in the AVR Studio IDE.
