Title: Woody the firefighting robot

Here is my current robot I just finished for school. let me know what you think.  Here is my site http://plaza.ufl.edu/sonictj/index_files/Woody%20the%20Firefighting%20Robot.htm (http://plaza.ufl.edu/sonictj/index_files/Woody%20the%20Firefighting%20Robot.htm).  I plan on using this robot for the next robot contest that arises.  Woody uses a Nintendo Wii remote's IR camera to sense the flame a $40 vision sensor.  The MCU is an ATmega644P.  All of the audio comes from the on-board speaker.

haha! i love it! it looks awesome, the sounds effects are awesome and is works! great job sonictj.

Thanks its my most elaborate design yet.  It was really fun to make.  If you look at my site I have some earlier video of it tracking the flame while doing obstacle avoidance.

omg i just realised there was a wii controller as the sensor, man i should look/read better. cant believe i missed that lol :D

That wii remote Idea is fascinating...

im guessing it has an inbuilt infrared sensor? sorry, i dont know too much about wii hardware as i havent had a chance to buy one yet :(

The Wii remote has an infrared camera that sends center of mass data to my computer.  This data is interpreted in a program called GlovePie.  There I turn the Wii Remote x axis values into a virtual joystick to be read in the program Processing.  Processing then takes the joystick values and sends them as single byte numbers to my Atmega644P, via a bluesmirf.

As I said earlier, the Wiimote is for sensing the flame (ir robot vision).  The Wiimote'sinfrared camera does blob tracking.  The remote communicates with my computer for processing then this data is sent back to the mcu with a bluesmirf module.

What processing does it do? Is image processing done for recognizing fire?
