Sharp IR Object Detection:
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:40:57 PM »
Can someone give me a conceptual idea for programming object detection with Sharp IRs?
Please include things like the number of sensors involved with the scheme you suggest.
I have tried something simple like "move foward is sensor value = x"
to dive into object detection but I think that there is a problem in my logic here.
This causes a constant motion no matter what object I put in front of the sensor.
I understand the ad2convert8bit as well as the formula provided in the source code for centimeter conversion of the Sharp IR GP2D12 sensor.
But conceptually, what is a basic way to "go" to an object.

I have functions to move in all directions at my disposal.
Thanks.

try the $50 robot with the sharp IR sensor. It will avoid obstacles.
