Title: 6v motors, or an 3v motor controller?

So I bought a Tamiya double gearbox assembly, which comes with 3v motors. Every motor controller available here in New Zealand is 6v or higher.

From another post I have found these 6v motors that can be used a direct replacements for the Tamiya 3v ones however, they are going to cost me $30 for two motors shipped (~$40 after exchange rate), which is a lot for two tiny little motors. Can any on think of a better (cheaper) option?

Also if anyone has the time, would you be able to look through these motor controllers that are available here in New Zealand and recommend me one, as the price range for $12 to $60. I will be using an arduino to control these, and I think I would like to use PWM to control them.

Hi,

So I bought a Tamiya double gearbox assembly, which comes with 3v motors. Every motor controller available here in New Zealand is 6v or higher.
You can run your 3V motors from a 6V controller, either by only feeding the controller 3V (depends on controller if this is possible) or by using a resistor (or two anti-parallel diode chains) in series with the motor.

Alternatively, you can make your own controller :)
