Title: making simple and cheep robots (albiet rather useless ones)
Post by: blackbeard on November 10, 2009, 09:37:03 PM
so i made a circuit for a little robot that i wanted to assemble but since i just whipped it up now and i'm really tired it probably has cockroach sized bugs. basically it has 2 motors on either side and bumpers on the front and back hooked up to A and B which switch the latch and since one of the outputs of the latch are inverted it's basically one input that's high or low. both motors should move in the same direction but one motor should move at a slower rate depending on the state of the latch. the only thing i can think of to modify it would be to add 2 self canceling inverters to the second output of the latch as a buffer for the motors. btw if anyone else has a cheep microcontrolerless robot i'd love to see it

Well, i cant see any straight up problems but im no pro at assessing circuits... Better wait for confirmation...
If your looking for a microcontroller-less robot, maybe check out the $40 robot by pratheek:

i stepped on it by accident :(

oh well back to the drawing board

Ah god, this seems to happen a lot with the really small robots...
That really much suck... Are you going to attempt something similar or a new project?

ya. after ALLOT of on board tweeking, most of which i don't remember how to repeat, i got it to work sort of how i wanted using leds an a vmeter to test. thankfully the chips are in good condition although i have a bunch more so i'm going to try and make another better one.

You committed robocide!
Well, best of luck for the next one!
