Title: how to connect MatchPort module to Blackfin camera?
Post by: E. Almazrooei on February 10, 2011, 01:44:08 AM
Hi,

I have to build a surveillance robot and I am using MachPort b/g as a wireless module to send video file from the robot to my laptop and I used MatchPort Demonstration kit in order to configure the module.

I was thinking how to connect the MatchPort b/g demo board to the SRV-1 Blackfin camera since there is no S32 connector in demo board? So ,I decided to connect the demo board with to control PCB using RS232 cable (DB9 in control PCB),then I will take the output ( Rx MatchPort ) from the DB9 to Atmeg controller .Also , I will connect the output of S32 connector of my camera to the DB9 to transmit the video data to MatchPort so it will transmit the video wirelessly to my laptop .Am I right? Or I have to build another PCB for connecting MatchPort b/g with Blackfin camera through S32 connector and I have to put voltage shifter to protect my ATmega controller.(There is a voltage shifter between MatchPort module and RS232 cable in the demo board  ).

Could you please guide me since the most projects on the internet which I read about them, they built another board to connect MatchPort b/g to Blackfin camera using S32 connector?

NOTE: I will use also SRV-1 Blackfin camera and ATmega 328P mount in Baby Orangutan B-328 Robot Controller. And on my camera, I have S32 pin as I/O ports while the camera will damage if the voltage is greater than 3.3 V.

Hello,
If I understand you correctly you already have the Blackfin camera module and you also have the Lantronix eval/demo board with a matchport module installed? I was in the same situation and I just ended up ordering the SRV-1 Base Expansion Module from here http://surveyor-corporation.stores.yahoo.net/srbaexmo.html (http://surveyor-corporation.stores.yahoo.net/srbaexmo.html)

It already has an onboard voltage regulator so all you have to do is plugin you matchport module to it and then place the blackfin module on top via the S32 connector. The only thing you have to make sure of is that you have the right Lantronix WiFi module(B/G) PN# MP100100G. The eval board is big and takes more power than the expansion module.
hope this helps

hi thx123 ,

Thank you for replying. I already have boost regulator and I am planning to  use it  in order to provide 3.3V to my matchportb/g .What do you think ? Am I still need to buy expansion board ?.

You would still need the expansion board to do what you want to do with this. I don't think they sell the expansion board without the voltage regulator but you could ask.
