im newbie in making robot.....plss help me!!!
im asking how to test a servo(hitec HS311) if its is woking....it is said that BLACK wire for GROUND; RED for power; and YELLOW for SIGNAL WIRE..... and they said SQUARE WAVE is needed for YELLOW wire...
Q> How to make servo work if im going only to test if it is woking??? am i going to supply 6V...(+)for RED;(-)for black....how about yellow wire??
Q> is there other way how to make servo work?????
Sorry for my noobness!!!
thnx for replysssss!!!! ;D

Yes, 6 volt to red, ground to black. For the yellow wire you need to send a pulse lasting from 1 ms, to 2 ms, 1.5 ms being centered. You need to send this pulse many times a second.
If you dont have any programable robot brain then you could get an RC reciever and transmitter and connect the servo to one of the ports, or you could buy a specialized servo testing tool that allows you to send precise waves to the servo and watch its rotation.

50 times a second.

50 times a second
usually less . . . depends greatly on the servo, for example digital servos need fewer updates than analog . . . I often send just 10-20 per second . . .

Guyz thnx alot.....ur replys helps me a lot.....
i wish i can go further to my project, cause i still nid 2 servo......i dont have enough money to buy servo online....i wish i can get servo here in laguna philippines....
TO THOSE WHO REPLY IN MY POST ....THNX A LOT GUYZ!!! ;D

The HS-311 is a standard analog hobby servo. My study and experience with Hitec servos holds that it should be pulsed at 50 Hz or it will lose torque.
I really only have experience with Hitec servos, so other servos must be different as Admin says.

But if you are just testing then the pulses can happen as often as you want. The normal is that every 50 times a second you send a pulse of the correct duration. Don't do it more than 50 times a second as you wont gain anything. But as Admin says you could do it 10-20 times a second. Normally what happens is that if you do it 'less times per second' then the movement gets kind of jerky - but it should still rotate.
