shadow robotics hand & air muscle
« on: May 07, 2008, 12:16:06 PM »
Well, it ain't a video, but sure is inspiring.

Ai rmuscles are an example of strain wire that's very fast and powerful. Bad side is, it requires an air compressor. But it's incredibly strong for its size.

Take several of them and a hand is what you get.

Check out my homepage for in depth tutorials on microcontrollers and electronics.

Here's a video of the shadow hand. Near the end, they show how the air muscles are actually used to control the movements of the fingers.

Very cool.

tutorial on air muscles anyone.... lol

I dont think air muscles can be used in most hobbyist robotics ( b.c of the compressor needed)
but what about muscle wire..

That would make a nice tutorial ... wink* wink*
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!

Muscle wire isn't useful except for micro-robots. A long list of reasons why, but I'm too lazy to type em out . . .
