avr isp mkII died?
« on: September 07, 2008, 04:10:56 PM »
Uh-oh.... I was furiously programming, (successfully for the past few weeks with the $50 robot platform) and all of a sudden my programmer went dark.  AVR studio echos "problem connecting to programmer".

reconnecting USB for programmer yields nuthin..... no lights, nuthin.....

Has anyone else had the same issue?  Opening up the programmer (carefully) shows no fuses, or resets....

Arrgh.... my nice robot only has half a brain now..... desperately wants to be re-programmed.....

I dread that I may have fried it.  It is possible that I hooked up the robot to the programmer out of sequence (robot power off, connect programmer, turn on robot, robot may have been 'on' when I last connected the programmer) could it be this sensitive?

Thanks.

yep,
maybe
nope,
yep......

while I wiggle the 2x3 connector off and on the board, who knows if there is a short.....

it was working perfectly fine... correct lights in the body of the programmer..... the "connection" light was working fine too.... then all lights went out after I reconnected my robot......

I would connect, program, disconnect, let my robot roll around on the ground, rinse, repeat.......

then *poof*....

Is the USB port still good or did you fry it?
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!
