hi all. I'm a beginner :D
i need to build a robot driving two wheels.(differential action)
controlled wirelessly through a laptop
transmit video from 2 cameras to the laptop(range 100m)
using arduino as speed controller
presently i'm using arduino to control the robot.
zigbee to control wirelessly
but cant use it to transmit video :(
please suggest me what i can use to make those above possible.
a lesser range will do.

well if you don't need anything particularly fancy then you can get a wireless security camera kit from DX and just glue it on. you can also stick the camera on a servo swivel mount.

Transmitting wireless video to a laptop will not be possible with those cheap wireless cameras. They give a AV output which you can connect to your laptop only through TV tuner card(unless your laptop already has one built in). And as far as I know for 2 cameras you will need two tuner cards.
You can buy wireless cameras which connect to your USB port directly, but these are difficult to find and costly.
My suggestion for you would be to use IP a camera.

I use a standard AV-out wireless system along with a EasyCap usb dongle. Plug in the audio and video wires into the EasyCap, fire up some software, and you can see and download the video coming from the camera.

It doesn't seem that the thread starter has any interest in actually making the thing as this is the second identical post with no replies from him.
None the less, for the sake of conversation I'd still recommend doing this the hard way (read: the expensive way) by making the robot a self contained linux server that could run, for example, a web server with video feed and controls. This way it can be used from any computer anywhere in the world over internet. Nice, no?

hmm i imagine it would be quite the explanation but i'd love to know how to do this. with $80 ARM laptops this would be a nice little project assuming you could find a linux distro to work on it.

Yeah, those 80$ netbooks have enough power for the job. Linux seems to run quite well on ARM platform; there are many flavours available (including Android, that's actually a port of Linux (if I'm not mistaken, open source as well)). Only thing that would be required to make a surveillance robot with this thing is some usb webcams and probably some usb-i2c bridge so you could control the wheels and camera servos from the system.
The rest is software, that costs nothing (apart from time) and can be made to work no matter what. If you do decide to make one, I'd gladly help with this part.

is there a way to use skype over lan? i may sound like quite the nub but i'd think that way you could not only have audio and visual but if you used an arduino with the USB library you could make it say things like "i have snagged myself on something" or "my batteries are low" as an IM which might be neat
