Debugging the $50 Robot Help
« on: December 11, 2009, 05:19:39 PM »
Hello,
I've just added Sharp IR Rangefinders to my $50 Robot and I was hoping to get the values from a2dConvert8bit() function calls as I move a block of wood at various distances from the scanner.

Does debugging work with the $50 Robot?  I have been unable to get past the "The object file does not contain source code information." error.  I'm using the original make file from the 50_robot_sharpIR source with the "DEBUG = stabs" and "CFLAGS = -g$(DEBUG)" lines untouched.

I'd like to know if anyone has ever successfully stepped through C source code running on the ATMega8 of the $50 Robot with AVR Studio v4.14 and the AVR ISP 2 programmer?  If it's possible, are there any common gotcha's I should look at.  I'm also curious about the "$50 ROBOT UART TUTORIAL" (http://www.societyofrobots.com/microcontroller_uart_50_robot.shtml).  Does setting this up allow me to output values from within the code to this HyperTerminal window or is this all together something different?
