Title: Setting modified Servos to the zero position
Post by: macadameane on July 14, 2010, 10:07:15 AM
We are making simple RC robots and I need to buy supplies.

I don't have a prebuilt microcontroller and don't prefer to buy one, so I don't have that as a means to set the servo angle of to zero.  We will have a transmitter and receiver though.  Does the receiver by default "set" the servo to zero?  Can I use a powered receiver to set this to modify the servos?

Otherwise I will have to buy the premodified ones that are twice as much!  Any help would be appreciated.

The "neutral" or center stick position of an RC transmitter should work for setting the Servo pot for zero rotation. Then when the stick is moved in one direction the servo should rotate and moving the stick to the other side of center should reverse the servos rotation.

The receive by itself can not be used, it needs the signal from the transmitter.

As Waltr mentioned the transmitter and reciever can be used together for what you need. Most of the transmitters that I have seen have a trim adjustment. Make sure its centered and you should be good.
