Title: Workplace Annoyances
Post by: Asellith on February 03, 2010, 08:47:55 AM
Ok this is not robot related but I need to vent before my head explodes and I thought it would make a funny thread.

I was wondering if anyone had some good examples of annoying habits of coworkers that are funny.

For instance one of my coworkers does this all the time (and did it moments ago). He sends me an email then gets up and walks the ten feet to my desk to inject a comment on the email to me.

This is the email:

I was able to get into ORTAL, both sat receiver and modem. In BlueTree it had 2 bars and -97db readings in 1900mhz.

Reset the modem but it stayed the same. Sometimes it will shift to 800mhz and better signal.

Don

not to get to into the context but we are talking about a cellular modem at a remote site. His comment was "Did you know that after resetting the modems some times they switch to 800 mhz and get a better signal"

I have no clue why he had to paraphrase his email and give me more useless information but its annoying. Any other good stories?

I've had people walk to my desk to tell me that they sent an email. Usually interrupting the reading of said email.

Once, just to amuse myself, I put a serious expression on my face - like I had to quickly do something important - asked the moron coworker to wait for a second and then dialed his phone. He didn't hear it ring, so I left the message in his voice mail: "Hey this is me. I just got that information from you. Thanks for sending it." Sadly my humor only served to baffle him.

I work for a radio station and have to report to this *cough* coworker because he is the Chief Operator and is responsible to know whats going on (doesn't understand it but needs to know). so I thought I would be nice and started printing out the transmitter logs each week and putting them in his mail box. He comes up to me and asks me (the only other person with access to the equipment) if I was the one who gave them to him. I rolled my eyes and said no and pointed to the girl who was organizing and evaluating music for us at the time and told him she sent it to him. He wondered off even more confused.

2 hours later I think he got the joke....

after answering a question about my project, "whats it for" (okay big tank thing always gets intrest in a lab) and replying that its is just a proof of concept tank that drives around by itself. got asked, "so do you like, drive it around?"
yes. this is a cybernetics lab. most of the stuff going on here is weird, and probably would be of intrest to skynet. if not actuly be skynet.
