Resistor - for 50$ robot
« on: February 08, 2010, 01:00:26 AM »
Hi
Is it okay to use a combination of 2 or more resistors(in Series form) to get 340-ohm Resistor ?
i couldn't find 340-ohm and 1620-ohm resistors (i found some around that value such as 330-ohm)so i decided to assemble that way,Will it cause any problems?

Thanks for your attention

What is the application? Most times resistors don't have to be too accurate.
But yes, you can put multiple resistors together to make a higher resistance value.

Not sure what the scenario is but most resistors (unless specified) are + or - 10% anyway.

So for 340 ohm - a 330 ohm; for a 1620 ohm then a 1.6k (ie 1600 ohm) are probably ok.

Let us know where you get the figures from - and what they are used for - then we can give you thumbs up/down.

Anyway, as Webbot said, most resistors close to the range will work. i used a 1.5k resistor on my $50 robot.
And for the 340ohm resistor, its for an led so anything around 200-400 should be fine...
