BlueSmirf Gold - Blow Component - ID Help?
« on: March 07, 2011, 06:00:05 PM »
Hello,

I have been using a BlueSmirf Gold blue tooth device with my robot for a while. It has been really helpful with remote debugging and data analysis.

Today I did something really dumb. After re-arranging some components, I powered up the robot without double checking the power connection. The ground and VCC lines on the bluesmirf were reverse and by the time I realized that the lights weren't flashing like normal and that something must be wrong, POP. Something blew out. Luckily, it was just a smd capacitor (I think).

My problem is, I am unsure if it was actually a capacitor and I have no clue as to its ratings so I can try to find a replacement instead of buying a new device for $50+.

I haven't been able to find any conclusive information when checking Google but I believe it is a 10uF smd cap. Probably has a voltage rating of at least 5v, if I am looking at the correct device on the schematic. It looks like it has an ident string of C106L, but searching for that doesn't bring up a specific part.

So pretty much, I am just looking for someone to verify my guess on the device.

I was able to verify the part is a 10uF capacitor, now I'm just trying to narrow down other information about it (ie voltages and such).
