Title: Help needed for snake robot!
Post by: raaymaan on November 01, 2009, 05:16:25 PM
Hi guys, first of all thanks for looking at this post  :D

I am making a snake robot using Hitec-5645MG digital servos (16 of them) that are housed in their own module. My problem is that as I am using digital servos I want to drive them from an RS-485 bus. There are plenty of USB - RS485 converters around so I will use one of those but I am unsure of how to interface each servo to the bus? Would it require a small extra circuit?  ???

The robot is going to be powered from a tethered cable (hence why I'm using an RS-485 bus straight from PC as opposed to a ยต.controller or PIC) by the way and not battery operated.

This was my inspiration

Looking forward to all the replies  ;)
