Title: Axon not connecting
Post by: robotcoder on January 20, 2009, 11:02:45 PM
I recieved my Axon in the mail this Monday and began the Axon tutorial.  I was able to successfully go thru all of the steps, until I attempted to connect the Axon using the hyperterminal.  I checked the baud rates and they are all set to 115200.  I went a head and tried the bootloader and I am not able to install any code using it, it just spins |.  I also have a programmer, the AVRISP that I attempted to install with, but it gave me an Error saying Connect failed when I tried to connect.  If anyone has any ideas on what is going on, it would help.  It seems like the connection between the Axon and the computer isn't working even though the drivers seemed to install correctly.

Thanks, RobotCoder

it's suppose to do that.  Then you need to turn on the battery to give it power so that it can program it.  Seems like you didnt do step 4.

Did you follow these instructions? http://www.societyofrobots.com/axon/axon_getting_started_bootloader.shtml

Press enter, and now you will see a \ symbol spinning.

STEP 4: Turn On Axon

Turn on your Axon, and it should now upload your .hex file.
Remember, the bootloader must always be activated BEFORE you turn on the Axon or it will not work.

When I turn the battery on nothing happens, it just keeps spinning and never connects.

The fact that the ISP programmer *and* the bootloader aren't working make me suspect the battery voltage is too low. Check it with a multimeter, both before and after you turn the Axon on.

It was the battery, got a new battery and charged it properly.  Works Great now.
