Title: does technology create job loss?
Post by: Admin on May 12, 2010, 05:05:57 AM
Its a bit simplistic, but good enough material to use when you're at a party and a 'normal' accuses you of replacing humans :P

Bahah, sad but true. Machines make our lives easier yet they put us out of jobs at the same time, kinda screwed up if you ask me...

AS the technology advances you just need more knowledge to get a job... Simple :-D

That's why I'm majoring in industrial robotics. I'll be the guy that builds the working class of tomorrow. But i'll probably also be the guy that gets stoned to death by an unemployed mob ;D

The new technology replaces "old" workers but brings in new ones, so technology does not make net job loss  ;D

Yep, in the above cartoon there were 8 new jobs created to build and repair the carts.
That's what happened when computers became cheap enough for every office to use back in the 1980's.

Jobs are lost, but more jobs are gained so there is actually a net increase in jobs.
The trade off is that the new jobs required a higher level of education and training.
