searching garbage illegal?

Admin-

 ??? Ive got a question for you isn't it illegal to search in other peoples grabage is in a neighborhood. Because people through out social security numbers, credit cards etc. Ive once heard that searching though others people garbage cans is a federal law and that it is illegal.  ???

Theres a difference between asking if you can have an old pieces of electronics they throw out and sneaking up and searching through there garbage bin during the night.

Yeah but i meant was sneaking to take them without asking. I know that asking is legal way to search in the garbage.

personal garbage... yes thats iliegal, but once its in that big dumpster, it is fair game for all

I saw something about that on TV... Alot of stores here apparently have dumpsters with compressors, that have some kind of sealing system... Kind of impractical to search through...

I think you can be charge by tresspassing and searching through garbage.
