Transparent Material that Can be tapped?
« on: November 30, 2013, 02:40:36 PM »
I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to tell of of a transparent material that could be used reliably (well fairly  ;)) with a tap and die?

Thanks!

Plexiglass (acrylic) & Lexan (Polycarbonate) are two I've drilled and tapped with ease.
Just Google "tapping acrylic" to learn how.

Acrylic is more brittle than polycarbonate thus more likely to crack. This may or may not a an issue depending on your geometry, such as how close to an edge you are trying to tap.
