Title: Need help mounting motors
Post by: Tomtortoise on April 01, 2012, 03:44:01 PM
So i bought 2 18v drills from Harbor Freight today and the motors look like they should work great, the only problem is that i have no idea how im going to mount them. the picture attached shows the motors and the prototype for the frame (drawn out to scale) so i can still move any of the pieces around, im looking for the lowest cost and easiest solution but any advice would be very helpful.

Cable ties can be used to mount motors like these for prototyping.

For a more permanent solution you could use pipe clamps or pipe brackets.

Instead of throwing away the plastic drill case / housing, cut away what you don't need and save enough to clamp the motor in place just like when it was a drill.  Then you can mount 1/2 of what is left of the drill case to your device, insert the motor, then screw the other half of the what remains of the case in place to hold the motor.
