This is a vid of a contest held in our college two yrs ago this hexapod was built under $10 (Rs 400 basically).
i like the design simple and cheap
I found it on some forum the other day thought i should put it up here also

pretty nice , but I Im guessing there is only one motor in there?
if there is only one then how could it turn?
-
I dont really know the rules of the competition i.e. whether they were supposed to turn or what they were supposed to do cos i was in scjool that time
but i think it was sort of a dash to the finish in a straight line competition

Thats pretty nice. It looks like it might have 2 motors to move. Thats a pretty sweet design they went with. Very affective.
And turning is simple. All it needs is a nice little kick :)
-
wow that thing is awesome. and the motion looks pretty fluid
-
lol freakin awesome! that is a good approach to it...never thought of making a robot out of wood. ::)

thats not wood.
that's pvc piping. 1/2" inner diameter most likely

I only see one motor.
and why would there be two? I don't see it turning, and if it was able to turn, they would have showed it in the video.
But true, less is more!

Well it looks like there might be 2 motors back to back. One motor driving on set of legs and then the other motor driving the other set of lets. I could be wrong though
-
i think it's one motor with 2 output shafts though.
