Ping Admin, Copyright breach?
« on: May 21, 2011, 12:18:39 PM »
Hi,

Your page http://www.societyofrobots.com/actuators_dcmotors.shtml is copied verbatim at
Code: [Select]
http://inbigshop.com/how-use/dc-motors-tutorial.html]http://inbigshop.com/how-use/dc-motors-tutorial.html
If you didn't authorize it, I'd suggest you contact a lawyer specializing in copyrights on the net, as you should be able to get a decent amount of money out of it.
The amount depends on for how long it has been going on, the loss of revenue that can be documented etc. and how savvy your lawyer is.

I knew a Dane who usually got around $4k per page on average when people copied his work.

The DNS server is Russian.

It's hosted at the same IP address (and therefore same server) as elfpix.com, which lists its host as ossupport.ru, which does NOT have privacy protection.

Whois output for ossupport.ru:

Code: [Select]
domain:     OSSUPPORT.RU
nserver:    dns1.webdrive.ru.
nserver:    dns2.webdrive.ru.
state:      REGISTERED, DELEGATED, UNVERIFIED
person:     Private Person
e-mail:     [email protected]
registrar:  RUCENTER-REG-RIPN
created:    2008.02.27
paid-till:  2012.02.27
source:     TCI

Obviously a scraper site . . . nothing I can legally do if the server is located in Russia :-\

ps - I broke the links to that site in this thread to prevent him from getting any traffic.

Supposedly you can report the site here as a scraper/search spammer:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreport?hl=en&pli=1

That spam site is using adsense, so if enough people report it google is likely to cut their funding.

Can everyone spend 2 minutes to do it?

Hi,

How exactly did you report it?
Could you give a blow by blow please?

Søren

Ok, here goes:

In one tab, did a google search for "how to use dc motors site:inbigshop.com" — making sure I only got the bad result by specifying the site parameter.

In another tab, I visited https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreport?hl=en&pli=1, and filled in the data— mostly copying/pasting the query and URL from the other tab.

I marked the offence as "other", and wrote a quick sentence about how this site is a copy of the contents at societyofrobots.com — gave the URL of the original page too.

Thanks,
Barnaby

Hi,

Thanks a lot!
Unfortunately it seems that you need a Google account to get to the spam report page(?), as all I get is an option to log in, but no place to report spam.

Søren

Yeah, you'll need a google account.  Doesn't take long to make, though, and its useful to have one =).

Thanks for clearing that up.

I think I'll pass on signing up with Google, as I don't like their "Big Brotherness".

Hi,

They don't care who you are, they care about classifying and categorizing  whatever you search, whatever is in your mail etc.
But don't take my word for it, just Google it ;D
