solenoid with a step up cicuit
« on: May 10, 2010, 07:12:09 AM »
Hi !

Currently i have this solenoid :
http://uk.farnell.com/ped/44a-220-620-620/solenoid-12vdc/dp/9687904
I'm powering it with a 12 v battery and to activate it i use a relay .
...but i saw that my solenoid could handle up to 240 v, and as far as i know more v, more powerful kick!
I'm thinking about using this step-up chip
http://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/MC34063A-D.PDF    (MC34063A)
but i don't know the circuit(where to connect the pins)?
if you guys have any suggestions on a better step up chip/circuit please tell me!
Thanks

Regards

You read the datasheet like the Devil reads the Bible ;D
For 240V, you can do a short pulse pulling the plunger 2mm.

It's all in the datasheet, just read through it.

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?
Please remember...
