infrared rework station
« on: June 01, 2008, 09:10:27 PM »
Anyone with experience using an infrared rework station? I'm tired of hot air blowing my SMD's out of place . . . I'll need it for lead-less solder.

It looks easy . . . but don't think I'm willing to pay $1k+ for it . . . looking for opinions . . .

edit: Better yet, this looks easy to make . . . its just an IR heater on a stick, no? Know where I can get an IR heater like this?

That's a really slick system.  I paid $400 for a hot air rework station that is very difficult to use, and would have no problem spending $1000 for something like this that actually worked.  Where did you find the pricing ?

That's good to know.  Just got pricing - a new PDR system as shown in the video costs $4k with the vacuum pickup and $3k without.
