There have been a couple of these of sale on eBay . Good prices for sonar sensor  , except I think it beeps once the sonar has a certain threshold value. Can be easily hacked for a robot.

lol , but you've got a bit of a problem after you mount the sonar sensor........ interfacing and programming the damn things!
