Title: OOPic R Voltage Regulator
Post by: vivek9856 on February 24, 2008, 02:45:46 PM
I think I burnt out my Logic voltage regulator on my OOPic R. I plugged my battery in this morning, and nothing would happen. The EAC light on the board that usually came on is not on now. However, when I click the three built in buttons on the board, their respective LED's light up. When plugged into the serial port to program, the computer can no longer recognize that a board is present.

I checked the voltage b/t the middle pin and the left pin of the voltage regulator near the LCD pin / serial port, and its only reading about 2.85 volts now when the board is powered from a 9V battery.

What do I do now? How do I fix my board? Space is not an issue, so if necessary, I could wire another voltage regulator outside of the board.

I was thinking about getting a similar voltage regulator and simply replacing it on the board. Is this the same thing? http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=1737768&pa=1737768PS

Thanks!

You are just using a normal 9V, right? I suspect that your 9V is now a dead battery, and that getting a new one should fix the problem.

Whats the voltage across the battery when your circuit is turned on?

I tried powering the OOPic with a fresh 9V battery, and no luck still. I just sent the OOPic in to get the board replaced instead.
