Are you good at Google SketchUp?
« on: December 30, 2008, 11:10:02 PM »
If you are, I was wondering if you happen to have a model of solarbotics GM8 motor...?

If not, and you can make one, and it wouldn't take you much time or effort, I would really appreciate it.  ;D

Here are the specs (they're for the GM2 motor, because solarbotics does not have the dimension for the GM8. I hope they're the same  :-\)

Measurements are in mm

http://www.solarbotics.com/assets/datasheets/solarbotics_gm2_metric.pdf

-Thank you in advanced  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Im not making it because i cant be bothered, but that datasheet seems to have every concievable measurement that anybody would need so the other poster just hasnt tried either.....

why not make it yourself?

No, I am trying to make the model myself, but it's coming along very crude and doesn't exactly serve the purpose that I'd like it to...so I figured, if someone has a decent skill at using SketchUp, and they don't mind, why not ask?

I could make the gear box no problem, but the motor had no dimensions. I was trying to make it in SolidWorks, but I see what you are saying, if I just go by using the image I think I can do it.

By the way how accurate does this have to be? What is this for?

It just has to be recognizable really. It's just for a personal project that I'd like to have a model of because I don't know if I want to use the Solarbotics GM8 motor or a HiTec HS-311, I think I'm going to go with the servo however, for a lot of obvious reasons, but if you want to continue working on the model, it would be appreciated, but I don't need it as urgently per se.

looks good. Can you upload it to Google Warehouse, and then post up the link to the Google Warehouse page for the component. I want to upload it to my Robotics Parts Collection - http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/cldetails?mid=9f6353632a39809a54179885bd086c8a&prevstart=0

Thanks,
Eric

Another trick you can do is search the part libraries for something that looks similar, then manually change the dimensions and tweak the looks.
