A post on an RC forum got my interest up... we were discussing how RC will change over the next 5 years, and one guy pointed out that brushless speed controllers will drop in price dramatically, such as his 50 amp ESC that costed him $12 (brand name is Super Simple). He also mentioned they use AVRs, and I was like :o :o :D
I took off the heat shrink on a 25 amp Super Simple ESC and found to my great pleasure an Mega8L ;D ;D

Can't wait to have some fun with this one! I have absolutely no clue about how they program these things, so Ill have to ask the guy for the source code he used. It looks like the AVRs are used on the cheap ESCs for some reason, but hey, better for me since they don't cost as much as the $50+ speed controllers that use some random motorola MCU :)

AVRs are very commonly used in cars ;D
(you can find an mcu in like everything today - microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, etc)

Maybe these could be a cheaper alternative to the Sabertooth motor drivers!

My 30A brushless controller from Hong Kong (ebay) had an AVR too!

I think they built something on F16 based on AVRs... If I recall this right, it was power line detection using a ground station...
In my daily life.... Except from the AVRs I got on my STKs, I think that SEAT uses AVRs as parking sensors...
And I recall seeing an AVR on a digital satellite receiver... I don't remember much though....

I found an AVR in an old hard drive I have.

I also found a couple AVRs in some electronics I scrapped including a HDD. I had the same reaction as razor concepts when I saw it haha
