Title: Surveyor Stereo Vision System
Post by: Ro-Bot-X on September 25, 2008, 06:01:36 PM
Surveyor came out with a 3D vision system for robotics. Check it out here:

:o  Darn, that's pretty cool.  It even interfaces with roborealm, has built-in vision processors and can act as a "autonomous robot controller" (you can use it to replace a microcontroller?).  If I didn't already have an ER1 robot, I would have considered building my robot using that (I could build a second counterpart robot using it though...  ;D ).

It kind of on the expensive side, but it must be worth it (I'd like to hear some feedback about it).  Anyway, I think it's awesome "looking" (har har).

Sorry, don't have time to read through it all, but was that antenna on the top a transmitter? so the image could be sent wirelessly to the computer, by let's say bluetooth?

An 802.11g Wifi radio is included with the stereo vision system.  Specifically, it's a Lantronix Matchport radio.  So yes ... you can connect wirelessly to a base station computer.
