I found this site back in 2008 and got all geared up to start building the $50. Shortly after getting all my parts, I had a large work project come up which led to me moving. I ended up having to abandon the robot project -- Until NOW :P Unfortunately, I have lost the ATmega8, I purchased, Somewhere in my move. Today, I received an Arduino and was curious.. Is there any info / tutorials / point in the right direction that might explain how to replace the original electronics design with an Arduino Duemilanove in creating the "$50 robot"?

Sweet! Thanks,
While reading thru the roboduino tutorial, it stresses the programming is ONLY for the roboduino. Is this true, even if using the Arduino?

Arduino is the software development environment. Roboduino is the physical board, and it runs the Arduino code. So code for the Roboduino works perfectly in all the other Arduino boards.

Although I saved some cash buying the arduino board, I kinda wish I went ahead and sprung for an Axon. Mainly because I'm so noobish, right now.

Arduino is better for noobs i think. I'd imagine that the Axon would be getting too complicated too fast. I have my 50$ robot i made with arduino, and I already messed around and made code for it, so pm me if you like. Im also updating it with ultrasonic and Ir rangfinders within a week or 2, so you can get that code to if you like.
