The technology to convert glucose to electricity has been around for a long time, but only now is someone trying to convert it into a product. Sony, you just made my cyborg dream come true! ;D
Now if only they get small enough to implant . . .
SONY Bio Battery - Generates Electricity from Glucose : DigInfo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYaj2mrsWlc#ws-lq-lq2-hq-vhq)

Thats so cool. One day I am going to make my robot power off rice.
-
That is pretty cool. I had the same thought as you Admin once I watched that video. Cyborg-future, hurry up :p
-
The video is not available anymore.

i dont know why this is happening but click "LQ" and then it will work. its at the bottom right

Why aren't these everywhere? If the technology's been around for this long, and if it's actually as efficient as they say, isn't that the perfect solution to the energy crisis? The same way living things produce energy?
-
Suppose it would solve the energy crisis. Feed some batteries some lucozade and it gets energy, its like putting the human in the battery. cool technology
-
Have they gone through the problem of filtering through all the stuff that isnt glucose? In the video it shows them injecting pure glucose onto the thing - but live stuff is not pure glucose.
-
I think I will buy one the moment it's available in my country.
-
does anyone have a ballpark figure of how much each cell will cost?
-
Hmm... if the battery can be powered by food that we eat, then it must also be able to discharge the unused food scraps... thus the poo & pee-ing battery!
-
lol, thats actually a good point to raise. what will happen to the un-used "scraps"? or do we have to feed it pure glucose?
