cyclocopter (a different type of quad-rotor)
« on: July 22, 2011, 09:03:27 AM »
We've seen the complex omni-directional thruster design work underwater, so here is one working in the air at the University of Maryland. It's still in the early prototype stage but looks like it has a lot of potential.

There isn't any good data yet on how it compares to a more traditional quad-rotor.

I question whether the added complexity/weight and possibly lower efficiency is actually a good trade-off for possibly enhanced mobility . . .

Why do I still prefer the good old helicopter....

Think of it... the more engines the more loses still quad rotors don't really get more mobility than a full 3D helicopter.
For whom the interrupts toll...
