I'm still slightly confused by the word 'downloader' - ie is it the Java Downloader (when you are installing Java) or is it the Webbot Downloader (for when you are trying to install my bits'n'pieces - which DOESN'T include Java since you've got to have Java installed in order to run it).
So first of all - check that Java itself is installed:-
1. Launch a Command Prompt (ie run 'cmd.exe) and type
java -version
2. You should see a response like:
java version "1.6.0_24"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.1-b02, mixed mode)
If so then java is installed.
3. If you get a message saying it is not recognised then download Java from the web site link I gave you before. NB Sometimes I find it easier to save the downloaded file rather than run it. This makes it easier to re-install if you need to without having to re-download over and over again. Having downloaded the java installer then run it. You may need to be the Administrator of the computer.
4. Unless you succeed with this (ie you get something sensible in point 2 then there is no point in continuing).
Ok so you've now got java. What do you see in the output from point 2 above?#
Now you can download the Webbot Downloader from
http://webbot.org.uk/iPoint/48.page.
You should end up with a JAR file - (which is like a Java ZIP file).
You should be able to double click on it to run it.
This will give you a window titled 'Webbot Download' with a list of things that can be downloaded. To activate an entry in the list you double click on the entry and say where you want to download that 'thing' to on your computer. Once set it will then start downloading that item. NB It should never start downloading Java itself since you must already have that installed for Webbot Download to run.
