Might i just ask in which extent microcontroller Speech recognition will work? Will you be able to have a simple conversation with it, or will it be more in the line of giving the robot commands?

Definitely PC :D

MCU,
Perhaps you could wait and do one using Admin's new Axon MCU?

I refuse to use PC's for a robot . . . so, micro :P

Ya! And much of the $50 Robot is compatible with the Axon, so if you get it to work on one, it will work with the other.

lol totally forgot about this . I just quit on offboard microcontroller processing and did all onboard laptop processing. Documentation for onboard laptop processing is in my Chives source code.

If I do get a Voice Recogntion module  from someone I'll definitely do this tutorial  ;)

I vote for Laptop/Notebook ,hmm  may be netbook , do it on laptop then sent command to micro via wireless

But DSP module is the best  ???

like this one, Facial Recognition Module based on  a high speed 32-bit DSP  :o

That's funny, I thought everyone would suggest using a PC (Windows comes with a speech-recognition software and you could probably download other ones).  Also, some problems would be avoided, such as limited processing power with microcontrollers (unless the microcontrollers you people use are quite large).

Perhaps I've made a mistake.  I've only worked with the BS2 and if you wanted speech recognition, you generally bought a seperate system you linked to it...

Picture a PC or a laptop placed on top of the $50 Robot and you'll quickly see why we want a micro to do it :P

PC's are great on memory and processing power, but they are horrible on weight and power consumption.
