Hello,
I just received my new Maxstream USB Wireless Serial Interface XBP24-PKC-001-U
http://www.elsist.it/WebSite/Ftp/Various/Maxstream/RadiomodemXBee/product-manual_XBee-PRO_USB_RF-Modem.pdf and a Wireless Serial Mobile Transceiver Module with xbee pro. Both from
http://www.superdroidrobots.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=681&catid=54 (part number TE-070-001)
I installed the drivers per the instructions. The steps were a little different than what the instruction book said (I'm using VISTA) but, it said that my devices were ready. I performed the range test and it appears to work just fine.
I hope to use this wireless system to control servos on my robot. The range is incredible. I have two (Scott Edwards) Mini SSC II servo controllers and software called ROBO-WARE from website
http://www.rentron.com/Robo-WareV2.htm and
http://www.seetron.com/pdf/ssc2_mnl.pdf. This software allows me to use a serial cable to control up to 16 servos.
I was hoping that this would be an easy "right out of the box and go" but, the Maxstream instruction book looks ominous and confusing to me. So far I can't get it to work. The manual says that it should act as a serial line replacement.
I have tested the SSC II's with the serial cable (the manual shows the pin out) that came with them and they work great.
The SSC II servo controller data sheet
http://www.seetron.com/pdf/ssc.pdf says:
Serial input...............RS-232, or inverted TTL/CMOS, 9600 or 2400, N81The Wireless Serial Mobile Transceiver Module with xbee pro has a TTL connector on it. So do I just need a TTL to RS-232 converter cable or what?
Could someone help me get the Maxstream setup so it will communicate with the Mini SSC II's?
Thanks in advance,
Rex
