hi,
i have designed my first board using pic 18f4550.
here is the link http://myfirstbot.blogspot.com/2008/07/my-first-board.html (http://myfirstbot.blogspot.com/2008/07/my-first-board.html)
is the board ok or does it need any changes??

The board looks fine at fist glance, the only things that i would do are to change the crystal oscillato to a ceramic one thereby removing the need for any capacito on it. Also add a header for in circuit seial programing. Add a seial or usb output so you can coneect it to a computer while its woking, and maybe swap out the l293 for an l298 (they allow a more poweful motor so you have an opportunity to upgrade)

The board looks nice and tidy

Lol that happens to my "A" key so i have learnt to push slitely harder on it now :)

hi ppl,
thanks and its nice to hear that the board is good.i ll start my work right away :)
well to use internal interrupts do i have to add something to the board.i mean if i have to use PWM i won't be having problem right?

Theres a pice of grit underneath my buttons, It chooses a different key to obstruct everyday. I think its intelligent and knows exactly what its doing ;D

to stay on topic:
you can use a screwdriver or a knife to pry out the buttons, i had to do it with all my keys cos the keyboard was full of shenanigans.
good way to learn where which buttons are too lol.

The ceramic type has a higher error rate, and could cause you problems with the UART. I recommend the xtal.
