Hi

I work with Occam Robotics, Inc. a robotics and computer vision startup in
Boulder, CO.  We're looking for engineering and / or software development
interns who would be interested in working with us this summer on logistics
and automation robots.  If you know anyone in your club or classes who
would be interested, please feel free to forward this email to them or any
other relevant mailing lists.

Best,
- Angela Tse

*Robotics Engineering Internship

Robotics and computer vision start-up in Boulder, CO seeking robotics
engineering and hardware development intern.  Intern will assist in
building, testing, debugging, and redesigning of robotic drive assembly,
systems controls, battery controls, chassis, and other hardware elements.
Intern will collaborate with hardware and software personnel to support
hardware, products, and features development, documentation, and analysis
for robotic logistics platform.  Experiential learning opportunities will
also be given in fabricating (e.g., machining, milling, plasma cutting,
CNCing, etc.) hardware for intelligent sensor-based systems for
ground-based video platforms in tactical and dynamic environments.

Potential to expand internship scope based on interns’ interests to include
other engineering / robotics work in fields of mechanical, electrical,
systems, and/or software engineering: e.g., articulated mechanism design
with custom actuation and sensing, finite element analysis / design
optimization, software programming to implement computer vision algorithms,
electronics debugging / failure analysis, firmware development, power
switching and amplification, networking and peripheral interfaces, etc.

Excellent opportunity to gain experience in dynamic start-up environment
and gain valuable experience in both practical execution / implementation
and analysis in the robotics and hardware engineering industries.

- Current/graduating student in quantitative field (computer science,
robotics, mathematics, engineering, etc.)
- Strong academic record and relevant academic coursework
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivation to develop skills in new technical areas
- Experienced CAD user (Solidworks preferable)
- Excitement to learn and work in the industry and field of robotics
- Ability to contribute actively to problem-solving discussions in product
development

Ideal candidate may also possess:
- Experience/ demonstrated interest in hardware “tinkering”, automobile
repair, etc.
- Experience with welding, machining, CNCs, and other hardware
manufacturing tools
- Experience with CAM software
- Experience / demonstrated interest in robotics

Please send resume, unofficial transcript, and any CAD sample(s) / YouTube
videos / other examples of work to [email protected].*

*Software Development Intern

Robotics and computer vision start-up in Boulder, CO seeking software
development intern.  Intern will assist in support of research and
development of robotic mapping and sensing systems.  Programming experience
will focus on computer vision, machine learning, probabilistic tracking,
segmentation, feature extraction, object detection and tracking, modeling,
and statistical signal/image processing.  Intern will collaborate with
hardware and software personnel to support code development, documentation,
and data analysis for robotic logistics platform.  Experiential learning
opportunities will also be given in intelligent sensor-based decision
systems for ground-based video platforms in tactical and dynamic
environments.

Excellent opportunity to gain experience in dynamic start-up environment
and gain valuable experience in the robotics and computer vision field.

- Proficiency in C/C++ or MATLAB
- Current/graduating student in quantitative field (computer science,
robotics, mathematics, engineering, etc.)
- Strong academic record and relevant academic coursework
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivation to develop skills in new technical areas
- Ability to contribute actively to problem-solving discussions in product
development

Ideal candidate may also possess:
- Experience with multiple view geometry, feature extraction,
calibration/reconstruction/SLAM problems
- Experience programming in Linux (Ubuntu), including embedded systems
- Experience with OpenCV, ROS, Python*
