Different fast moving robot for 40$ :)
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:25:30 AM »
Is this little robot corny, or funny, or just my poor spam to get people to my website?

http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-6154034533075077289&hl=en

It is funny to play with no matter what!

Well.. i must be honest, the clikck-sounds you can hear is me pulling an old Amiga-joystick next to the camera.

The joystick is put on top of a black box, in which it is hooked up to a Picaxe, and the Picaxe is hooked op to an Easy Radio-module.

On the side of the robot, see more here: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/101 - you can see that it also has a little Easy Radio- module.

So the joystick is sending both directions, but it also sends "trick-routines" such as "shake" (Left button), or "turn 360" (Right Button + joystick down) etc. The robot itself has only got 128 bytes of code, and only understands the serial strings coming from the Easy radio.. When I want to change something, teach it new tricks etc, I actually re-program the joystick.. in this version!

BUT!!! It can also be autonomous, the video is not so good (merely test), but the robot is really aggresive when it is "out of control from my joystick": http://letsmakerobots.com/node/87
