Hey all, we're giving away a $3500 Bioloid Expert kit (http://www.curiousinventor.com/contest) to promote a new "inventors (http://www.curiousinventor.com/inventors)" section of our website where people can showcase projects they've done, and find others doing similar stuff. We hope it can be a place where people can find collaborators and ideas, and would appreciate any suggestions from the society of robots people.
To enter, just make an account (http://www.curiousinventor.com/login/signup) and then describe a project with a picture and brief explanation of what it does and how it works.
The contest ends on Nov. 21st, 2008, or when 500 people enter, whichever comes first. The first 50 get $10 coupons (still left).
thanks!
one clarification: it's a raffle for the main prize, but the top voted project will also get a $100 coupon.

Can you give more details on how best robot is chosen?
Btw , I entered my butler robot. ;)
-
at the right of each project there's a + and - you can use to vote. We'll just choose the top voted project that was in the contest.

The rules are one entry per person, and it's the most votes on one particular project, not all of your projects.
IP addresses are recorded with the votes, so if we suspect fraud, we can go back through and retract votes.
-
i don't want to sound guilty by bringing this up...but can you tell if its a proxied IP or not?
-
ooo. attacking a website through a proxy.
how quaint...
denying any vote with Proxy HTTP headers will catch 98% of them.
comparing the server logs with a Spam BlackList list like http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml (http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml) will get the rest.
dunk.

we'll probably do some old fashioned protection, too... ie, by asking for fixed addresses from entrants. With enough effort, it would surely be possible to get by the rules, but we'll try our best to make it fair.
The first entries are awesome... thanks. ex: beer pong / beirut robot with computer vision (http://www.curiousinventor.com/projects/Beirut_Robot)
