Door safety interlock
« on: September 15, 2010, 03:30:21 PM »
Hello,
I need help with the following question. Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

I want to have a safety interlock for a safety enclosure. The enclosure door cannot be open when the power is on. I have a power supply 208VAC, 20 Amp. I also have 24VDC outputs from a PLC.

Thank you.

Use a solenoid to latch the door from the inside, or block the movement of the door latching mechanism. 208VAC or 24VDC solenoids are readily available.

Thanks, Waltr. How about this one http://www.mcmaster.com/#linear-solenoids/=8v5cq4 to latch the door from the outside? Thank you very much.

I don't know anything about what your cabinet is like so can not make a recommendation. Can you get that one to work for you?
