Ball in solidworks (2007)
« on: March 28, 2009, 09:06:20 PM »
I have been trying to make a ball in solidworks 2007 for 2 hours, went to google no luck, check the forums no answers so I thought I would ask here since some of you use solid works. I am trying to make a 5in diameter ball to try a design of a robot I might start building. If anyone knows how to make a ball could you please help me.

I make a ball in Autodesk by making a cylinder, then adding a fillet to the edges of it.

For example, a 1" long 1" radius cylinder, with 0.5" fillets, is a ball.

I've been using SW 2007 for a couple years now and I've found the easiest way.  Enter a sketch plain and draw a diameter, then take a line and draw it from top of the circle to bottom, take the trim tool and cut one for the sides off so you only have 180 degrees of the circle left, then draw a center line right on top of the vertical line.  Then enter the revolve feature and rotate 360 degrees and you have a ball.
