Title: How this robot is made?
Post by: windchaser90 on October 25, 2013, 07:22:54 PM
Hi, I'm doing an installation project for a college class and I need some help. I want to make a robot that's really similar to the one in this link :http://www.gizmag.com/mini-robots-color-music-yuri-suzuki/28840/.

Now, I have no knowledge of robotics or programming and one of the points of the class is to learn how to research more thoroughly and learning to ask for help when needed. We need to make our installation project but the class isn't a robotics/engineering/programming class, it's only the type of project I decided to do.

I understand that the robot is a line follower and I've found multiple tutorials and a book that has one in it that I can follow the instructions on and make. I also understand that it would use a color sensor to detect the colors. What I don't understand is how the robot translates the RGB colors into sounds and how to make it produce the sounds I want it to make. I don't know what the codes would look like or how you'd even program the robot in the first place.

I think I'll be ok on making the line following robot with all the tutorials and the book I found. I just don't know how to, idk, install or add in? the color sensor and the sound into the robot, how to make those work, how to make it play the specific sounds I want for the colors, how exactly it produces the sound, like what kind of speaker.

It would be great if someone could explain in easy to understand detail what they might have done to make the robot in the above link or how to go about making something like it. I don't know if I made any sense at all lol.

First, click on "Robot Tutorials" in the upper right corner of this web page and read. There are many tutorials and articles that cover the basics very well.
Second, search and read through the many threads in the forums here.
