I'm doing this competition:

(rules take literally 5 seconds to read)
Basically its a 'robot can do anything to impress the judges' competition.
Anyone have some neat ideas on what ERP (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_ERP.shtml) can do that's artsy and can impress subjective judges? It has to be something I can do within a week of work. An 'outside of the box' idea . . . like flag waving or dancing or a terminator impression . . . you know . . .
I'm also doing two other competitions with ERP: painting, and line following . . . I'd do more competitions but its a $35 fee for each :-\
Oh and while I'm at it, what kind of picture should ERP paint/draw?

Hmmmm, how about a painting of the blue SoR Robots? I think that would be great :D
As for impressing judges...you were working on ERP to catch and throw, maybe make it juggle, or dribble a ball and shoot some hoops (short hoops of course) :P (I know, very hard, but just and Idea ;D)

hah, i can imagine erp with a mic doing a terminator impression!
for the painting will he just be using a brush?
id say either the blue robots, sor logo or a self portrait would be pretty impressive.

Audio is usually forgotten in many projects, would be nice to incorporate some kind of audio so that the judges dont have to listen to the movement of servos all day.

have a small speaker circuit like one like a cheap record 'n' play toys and record a snazzy tune/voice ;)

Another cool idea (sorta). Have that speaker circuit, but have a push button attached to an input pin. ERP can reach over it's shoulder/whatever and push the button, then you can have him dance to whatever is going to play :P

hah, does that really have a point other than looking cool?
get all the other robots to egg erp on! (they could mosh together)

It's anything that can impress the judges sooo... ;) I think the whole point of that idea (and the contest) is to look cool :D

Put an audio recording from something cool like star wars empire strikes back and do the scene where Vader tells Luke he is his daddy. Have ERP act like its menacingly holding a lightsaber and switch it to holding its arm funny when Luke speaks and keep going back and forth. Not to hard but they are robot judges they have to be star wars fans. (isn't that a requirement?)

hahah smash I just got this image of a big robot smacking around a little figurine. and I had another really dumb idea. Probably not the best to win the competiton but it would get some laughs. Have a figurine in each arm/claw of the ERP and have it "play" with them while playing the audio clip.

haha, i got the star wars idea but like you said with two figurines and everytime one is talking erp is shaking them...
(darth vader has a girly voice)

I remember one of the older ERP videos you made had it doing karate-like movements. If you make it do some sort of maritial arts inspired performance with corresponding audio. You could make it "break" boards, drive around attacking stuff, watch anything Bruce Lee was in, and try and copy it! A movie would also be a perfect place to get good audio tracks from.
Idea for painting draw Eve from Wall-E with a love heart around it! Pop culture sells!
